This is Maddie.
She writes contemporary Young Adult romances.
She was an awkward teenager once, with braces, side bangs, and Justin Bieber posters plastered to the ceiling of her bedroom. (Yes, the ceiling. Couldn't be putting holes in those walls!)
She was raised on rom-coms. Movies like Runaway Bride, The Wedding Planner, and Hitch permanently altered her brain chemistry at an early age.
Maddie eventually found her own "happily ever after," but her teen years were rather uneventful in the romance department (which, let's be honest, was probably for the best).
Maybe she's trying to rewrite those awkward years. Or maybe she just loves crafting the kinds of stories that never would’ve happened to her--but totally could’ve, if she'd had more confidence, the perfect playlist, and someone who could keep up with her sarcasm.
(When she finally found the guy who could, she married him.)
But being a teenager isn't all meet-cutes and first dates. Figuring out who you are and who you want to be is no small task, especially when life throws curveballs at you that seem entirely unfair.
There's balance in all of it. Which is why Maddie's books might make you cringe, crack up, and cry... sometimes on the same page.
Maddie lives in Texas and is currently querying her debut YA novel.
